5 ways to add Exercising on the road when traveling

10 hour car trip? I'm am so guilty of the mentality of let's get there as fast as we can. For years, I've pushed myself not to give in to rest stops and bathroom breaks all in the pursuit of just getting the trip over more quickly. HOW WRONG I'VE BEEN!

With my new healthy mindset, I decided that I wasn't going to let time be a factor for me on my travel. I needed to put myself and my health first. This trip, instead of only stopping twice for gas and potty breaks, I stopped almost every two hours. Can I just say now, that I really enjoyed my trip this time!

Rest area and welcome centers along the US interstates are some of the most beautifully landscaped places you will find right off the highway. They are there for a reason... to let your body rest from the stress of driving. Most have picnic areas, a walking path, and some even have playgrounds! This got me to thinking, what exactly can I add into my trip to make sure that I hit my exercise goals and stay on track. Here's a quick list of 5 things I came up with.

1) Rest stops - As mentioned above, take advantage of those rest stops on the side of the road. Get your heart pumping and let the blood flow!

2) State and National Parks. - I must have passed signed for a dozen different state and national parks on my 10 hour trip. Each state has it's own website listing its state parks and a map to see how close they are to the main roads. Just searching "State Parks" and the name of the state you'll be passing through will give you a good idea of how easy it is!

3) Exercising in the car. - Not my favorite by any means, but it is doable even if your the driver. Working on your abs, is the easiest thing to do while driving. Tightening and releasing your abs consciously in certain intervals can really have a positive effect.

4) Hotels with fitness rooms and indoor pools. - Of course some of these hotels may be a little more expensive than others, but they are convenient in making sure you have access to the equipment you need to keep your exercise schedule going. Most pools are open 6am-midnight and fitness centers are generally open 24 hours with your key card.

5) Fitness across the internet and on laptops - This generally only requires internet access from the place you are staying at. I personally use the BeachBody On Demand Access to make sure that I can still get in my cardio and moves while staying on my program. If you want to take a look, here's a link. https://www.teambeachbody.com/en_US/checkout/-/bbcheckout/challengepack/annual-all-access-BOD?referringRepId=1462142
